Privacy policy
Let's Hang is a wellbeing coaching space. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have — wherever you are in the world. Last updated on request; ask us any time for the current version.
Who we are
The responsible party
Let's Hang is operated by a small wellbeing coaching practice in South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) we are the responsible party for the personal information you share here. Where international laws apply to you — for example the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — we follow the same principles: we collect as little as possible, use it only to run this space, and never sell it.
What we collect
The information you give us
Account details. If you create an account, we store your email address so you can sign in. You may choose a display name, or post anonymously — anonymous posting is the default.
What you write. Posts in the room, replies, hearts, and progress reports you share are stored so other members can read them. When you post anonymously, your identity is not shown to other members.
Voice notes. If you record a voice note, the audio is stored privately and played back through short-lived secure links that expire after about an hour. Only signed-in members can play shared notes.
Technical records. Like most websites, basic technical records (such as connection and error logs) are kept to keep the service safe and working. We do not use advertising trackers or sell data to data brokers.
Sensitive information
Please think before you share
Conversations about wellbeing, faith, and mental health can be deeply personal. Before you post, remember that anything you publish in the room can be read by other members, and that you may share as much or as little as feels safe. If you prefer, use a display name that doesn't identify you and post anonymously.
We encourage everyone to be kind, but we cannot fully control what other members do with what you share. If something concerns you, contact us and we will act on it.
How long we keep things
Retention
We keep your content for as long as you remain a member and for a short period after, so you can ask us to restore it. When you ask us to delete your information, we remove it from the live service; backups may take up to 30 days to clear. Technical logs are kept for up to 12 months.
Who sees your information
Sharing and processors
Your information is shared only with the service providers that make Let's Hang work: our hosting, database, and storage providers, and providers of email sign-in. They process information on our instructions, under contracts, and are not allowed to use it for their own purposes. We may disclose information where the law requires it — for example a valid court order — or where we believe in good faith that someone is in serious danger.
Your rights
Access, correction, deletion and objection
Under POPIA — and, if you are in the EU or UK, under the GDPR — you may ask us to: confirm what personal information we hold about you and see a copy; correct or update it; delete or de-identify it; restrict or object to certain processing; and withdraw consent where we rely on it. We respond to requests within 30 days, and we will not charge a fee unless a request is clearly excessive.
You also have the right to complain. In South Africa you can contact the Information Regulator at inforeg@popia.co.za. If you are in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local data protection authority — but please talk to us first, and we will do our best to sort it out.
Children
This space is for adults
Let's Hang is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
